A Compact SUV Built for Everyday UK Life
The Kia EV2 sits in the competitive B-segment electric SUV class, targeting rivals such as the Renault 4 E-Tech, Peugeot E-2008 and Jeep Avenger. Measuring 4,060mm in length and 1,800mm in width, it occupies similar road space to a Nissan Juke or Volkswagen T-Cross, making it well suited to tight urban streets and narrow UK parking bays.
Despite its compact footprint, the EV2 carries a confident SUV stance. A strong shoulder line, pronounced wheel arches and vertical lighting elements give it presence beyond its size. Kia’s Star Map light signature reinforces its modern EV identity, while GT-Line models introduce sportier bumpers, gloss-black detailing and alloy wheels up to 19 inches.
UK buyers will be offered three trims: Air, GT-Line and GT-Line S. The long-range battery option is expected to be available across all grades and is likely to be the most popular choice.
Two Battery Options with Up to 278 Miles of Range
The 2026 Kia EV2 will launch with two battery configurations, giving buyers a choice between affordability and extended range.
The standard-range 42.2kWh version produces 144bhp and delivers 0–62mph in 8.6 seconds, with a projected WLTP range of up to 194 miles. The larger 61kWh long-range model offers up to 277–278 miles of range, producing 134bhp and completing 0–62mph in 9.5 seconds.
Built on a 400-volt architecture, the EV2 supports rapid DC charging, allowing a 10–80 percent top-up in approximately 29 to 30 minutes. AC charging at 11kW and 22kW is also supported for home and workplace charging.
For many UK drivers, the near-280-mile capability of the long-range Kia EV2 should comfortably cover weekly commuting and weekend trips without frequent charging stops, making it a practical alternative to petrol-powered small SUVs.
A “Picnic Box” Interior Designed Around Flexibility
Inside, the Kia EV2 focuses heavily on space efficiency and usability. Despite being the smallest SUV in Kia’s electric range, it offers clever packaging that rivals larger models.
A panoramic wide display combines a 12.3-inch digital driver cluster, a 5.3-inch climate touchscreen and a 12.3-inch infotainment display. Unlike some rivals, physical controls remain for temperature and fan speed, making everyday adjustments more intuitive. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included as standard.
The column-mounted shift-by-wire selector frees up space in the centre console, allowing for additional storage, cupholders, a wireless charging pad and flexible compartments.
Rear seating is where the EV2 stands out in the compact electric SUV segment. Buyers can choose between a fixed five-seat bench offering 322 litres of boot space, or a sliding rear bench layout that increases luggage capacity to up to 403 litres when moved forward. With the seats slid back, rear legroom reaches up to 958mm, impressive for a vehicle of this size. A 15-litre front trunk adds extra storage for charging cables or smaller items.
Big-Car Technology in a Small Electric SUV
Kia has equipped the EV2 with technology typically found in larger and more expensive models. Advanced driver assistance systems are expected to include Forward Collision Avoidance Assist 2.0, Lane Keeping Assist 2, Highway Driving Assist 2 and Blind Spot Assist, along with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and a 360-degree camera on higher trims.
Additional convenience features include Digital Key 2, over-the-air software updates, a Harman/Kardon premium audio system, 100W USB-C charging and a dedicated Pet Mode to maintain cabin comfort when parked.
Small touches, such as animated welcome and farewell lighting graphics, add personality and reinforce the EV2’s focus on everyday enjoyment rather than purely functional transport.
Kia EV2 Price and UK Positioning
With a projected starting price of around £25,000 and long-range models approaching £30,000, the Kia EV2 could become one of the most competitively priced electric SUVs in the UK market.
Its combination of real-world range, rapid charging capability, flexible interior space and advanced safety technology positions it as a serious contender for buyers moving from petrol crossovers into electric motoring.
